Built by people who believe healthcare deserves better tools
Medyca was born from a simple conviction: doctors, patients, and institutions deserve technology that truly serves them — not the other way around.
How Medyca began
A company born from the belief that medicine can be safer, that patients deserve a voice in their own health, and that quality care should be accessible to everyone — not just those who can afford it.
The spark
It started with a simple idea: build a better radiology application. We watched brilliant professionals — people who had spent decades mastering their craft — struggle daily with software that was never designed for them. The platforms that actually worked well were prohibitively expensive, locking most healthcare professionals out of the tools they needed to do their best work. That is why radiology became the first module we built — and the frustration behind it was something we could not ignore.
The moment everything changed
Medyca was being built for radiology. Then something happened that changed our entire perspective.
One day, we learned about a case that changed everything. A doctor prescribed intravenous adrenaline for a child. The child died. “Medyca could have avoided this,” we thought. If the doctor had written that prescription inside Medyca, the system would have flagged it immediately — warning that the dosage and route would be lethal.
In the weeks that followed, more stories like this surfaced. Exhausted doctors at the end of 24-hour shifts making decisions no human should have to make alone. Emergency rooms so chaotic that even experienced professionals missed critical details. Medyca was needed to protect patients — and to protect doctors too, because no one enters medicine wanting to cause harm.
What we found
The deeper we looked, the clearer the problem became. Healthcare technology had been designed around billing and administration — not around the relationship between doctor and patient. The software that existed served the institution’s paperwork, not the professional’s judgment. Doctors were adapting their workflows to fit the tools, when it should have been the other way around. We saw an opportunity to reimagine what medical software could be if it started from the perspective of the people who actually use it — and the patients whose lives depend on it.
Giving patients a voice
Making medicine safer was the first step. But we started thinking about the other side — the patients themselves.
Patients should own their health. Not as a slogan, but as a reality. An application that gives them insights, that listens, that records symptoms over time, that helps translate what they feel into language their doctor can act on. Transcription tools exist today, but that is not enough. Patients need to be active participants in their own care — equipped, informed, and heard.
Because they cannot speak for themselves
And then we looked even further. If Medyca could give patients a voice, what about those who have no voice at all?
Today, our pets are family. We love them deeply, and keeping them healthy is part of keeping ourselves healthy. An application that captures daily observations, tracks patterns, and surfaces insights before problems become emergencies — that is what they deserve. It was only natural that Medyca would create this.
What we believe
These are not corporate values written for a wall. They are the convictions that shape every decision we make and every feature we build.
We can make medicine safer
For patients, for doctors, and for institutions. The technology to intercept errors before they reach the patient already exists — it just has not been built with the right priorities. Medyca is built to protect everyone in the chain of care.
People should own their health
Patients deserve to be more than passive participants. They should feel comfortable with medicine, more active in understanding their own bodies, and equipped with tools that help them communicate what matters to their doctors.
Health should be accessible
Access to quality healthcare should not depend on where you live or what you can afford. Medyca is designed to improve the quality of medical work everywhere — better tools for professionals, better insights for patients, the same standard of care for everyone.
Quality over cost
Successful healthcare is not just about cheaper healthcare. It is about knowledge, precision, and better tools. We are building technology that raises the quality of care — for doctors, for institutions, and for every patient who walks through the door.
Meet the founders
Medyca was founded by people who share a common belief: healthcare professionals deserve better technology — and patients deserve better care.
Marina Camargos
CEO & Co-Founder
With more than two decades across development, architecture, and executive technology leadership, Marina leads the technical vision behind Medyca. She chose to leave the corporate path to build something that matters — a platform shaped by a team that believes healthcare professionals and their patients deserve better.
Lucas
CMO & Co-Founder
A radiologist by training and by calling, Lucas brings the clinical perspective that keeps Medyca grounded in what healthcare professionals actually need. His firsthand experience writing reports, interpreting images, and navigating the limitations of existing tools shaped Medyca’s radiology module from day one. He ensures that every feature we build works the way a doctor thinks — not the way a developer assumes.
